A Fisherman's Tale released back in 2019 to rave reviews. The VR-only game isn't as ambitious as something like Half-Life: Alyx; however, it does deliver a must-play experience for VR owners. The game does some neat things with how it delivers its mind-bending puzzles that are worth seeking out. And today, the team has announced their follow-up title. I was fortunate enough to get an early Maskmaker preview. Now, this was a strictly hands-off event, but it did provide me with a good idea of what we can expect. But first, check out the new trailer the team dropped today.

As you could probably guess from the title, this game is all about making masks. In our Maskmaker preview, we got to see a little bit of that in action. The basic premise is that you're a new mask maker under the tutelage of a master. Each time you craft a mask, you're able to embody a person in another world. From there, you'll learn about even more masks, which will let you move further into the world.

This introduces a neat puzzle mechanic. You'll see a mask you need to craft off in the distance, but before you can build it, you'll need to find the components. So, you have to use the masks you currently have to move around the different worlds and gather materials. It takes that puzzle solving the team did so well in A Fisherman's Tale and mixes it with some light crafting. That all makes for a concoction that has me very interested to see where it goes.

Fortunately, we don't have to wait long to check the game out. Maskmasker comes to a VR platform near you on April 20. Considering my Maskmaker preview was hands-off, it's hard to say exactly how well this game will do on launch. That said, Innerspace VR has earned my trust with A Fisherman's Tale, so I'm more than willing to give this game a shot later this year.
