Mass Effect 2 Unplayable on Some SDTVs

February 15, 2010

BioWare’s Mass Effect 2 on Xbox 360 unfortunately, as many of its fans have found out the hard way, is unplayable on some standard definition TVs.  Normally one would expect that High Definition games are made with a different text size in SD, as that is usually the case.  This is because SD is not capable of anything near the resolution of HD so if the font is too small, you are just looking at tiny undecipherable blurs.

This is the case for many of the people who bought Mass Effect 2.  So far, BioWare has expressed their remorse explaining this issue came to be from a design decision during development.  While they have first stated they had no plans at this time to update the game in relation to this issue, and played it down a lot, their community would not take no for an answer.  Until BioWare said no.  They responded on their message boards putting the issue to rest once and for all by stating that they are “unable” to resolve this issue through a title update.  That in itself seems a bit like bull droppings.  Is it because you can’t or you don’t feel like it?

Either way, it is obvious that people out there experiencing this problem would enjoy the game a lot more in HD, but that may not be an option for everyone.  Hopefully they will do something about this soon and stop sitting on their hands.  If you are one of those people out there dealing with this, we feel your pain.
