Mass Effect Andromeda Gets New Info on Customization, Multiplayer and More

Learn more about Mass Effect Andromeda's customization, bonus stats in multiplayer and more.

With Mass Effect Andromeda coming closer and closer to its massively anticipated release, the game’s developers are keeping fans informed via Twitter.

Today we hear from Producer Michael Gamble, Creative Director Mac Walters, and Lead Designer Ian Frazier.

The armor customization that we saw in the past couple of days will be available for casual outfits as well, but it will let you choose color only, not pattern.

Like in the Mass Effect trilogy, if you choose the default “iconic” look for your Ryder, it can’t be customized. All the other heads can be customized.

There will be three settings for your helmet, always equipped, always off or off in conversations.

The map will always show you where your crew members are. Earning their loyalty will affect the game, even if not in the same way as it did in Mass Effect 2.

We also learn that some enemies on planets respawn, while some don’t.

While using guns is recommended, in Mass Effect Andromeda it’s more viable to use only biotic powers, due to individual cooldowns. Self-comboing is also more doable in general.

Speaking of multiplayer, there will be a level cap, similar to Mass Effect 3. Challenges will also make a comeback. The bonus stats introduced yesterday are capped, to avoid excessive stratification of the player base. You don’t select them as part of your loadout. The character you’re currently playing determines which stats get leveled, and all the bonus stats you earned apply to all your characters.

While multiplayer won’t impact the single player story like it did in Mass Effect 3, there are bonus single player rewards you can earn in multiplayer, or in other ways.

Apparently, before the game launches we’re going to get a glimpse of science officer Suvi, who is voiced by Katy Townsend (known for her role as Cait in Fallout 4).

Mass Effect Andromeda releases on PS4, Xbox One and PC on March 21st in North America and on March 23rd in Europe.
