Fans have been desperate for any scrap of information on the upcoming EA title, Mass Effect: Andromeda, ever since a brief teaser was shown at E3 last year. Not much is known about the game, including its characters, setting and gameplay mechanics, as it has been shrouded in mystery.
Though the game was touted with a Holiday 2016 release date initially, it seems now that the title will not hit shelves this calendar year. Speaking at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media and Telecom Conference EA’s CFO Blake Jorgenson said the following:
“We’ve got a great year ahead… we’ve got our Battlefield first-person shooter game coming in the third quarter, and our third-party title that Respawn, our partner, built, it’s called Titanfall, it’s the second title that they brought into that brand. Both of those are first-person shooters and will be targeted around the fast, action-driven shooter market, as well as the strategy-driven market in that quarter… We have our Mirror’s Edge runner game this first quarter, and then we have Mass Effect, which is a sci-fi action game, in our fourth quarter. So big year ahead and we’re pretty excited.”
Fourth quarter financially for EA would line up with the months of January – March 2017, the same time that Mass Effect 2 and 3 were both released as well. It is safe to assume that we will see more of this game in the coming months, likely at E3.
