Love it or hate it, the well detailed Liara statute from Kotobukiya is now available for pre-order on the Bioware Store.  The statute, which I saw at Comic Con, comes very close to being awesome.  There is just one main detail that I can not get past, her face.  I just personally can't justify spending $60 on a statue that has a creepy child's face on a full grown body.  It is a shame too, as the rest of the figure looks amazing.  It certainly has some awesome details, as her weapons and outfit look very cool.

The sculpture was sculpted by Busujimax (Takaboku Busujima), who is apparently considered pretty awesome, though I wouldn't really know.  I would fully agree if the face did not look so off.   They could have called the statue any other Asari and I'd be mostly fine, but this just does not look like Liara.

I fully understand that the 10" figure is supposed to be a piece that is inspired by the western game and specifically made in an anime or manga-esq style, but that does not mean I have to like it.  Liara is a more mature character in the games, and while she may seem naive at first, she is still a scientist and still tends to kick ass.   I just feel like the statue does a disservice to a great character.

But maybe that is just me, and if you like the statue, go ahead and order it.  I'm a big enough Mass Effect fan where I wouldn't blame you.  I would also probably be secretly envious.  I may just have to console myself with getting one of these.
