Today, Sony Interactive Entertainment released a new gameplay video for the upcoming Housemarque developed side-scrolling shooter Matterfall. This video gives us one of our first extended looks at the game in action and provides us with an idea as to how each level will work.
The entirety of the eight minute video is accompanied by voice over from Jari Hokkanen, Matterfall’s Senior Level Designer. Jari clues us in to portions of Matterfall’s story as well as showing off a variety of weapons and abilities that are included. Additionally, we get to check out a handful of enemies that will be in the game before later seeing a fight with one the game’s bosses.
After being announced at Paris Games Week in 2015, Matterfall re-emerged last month at E3 2017 where we finally saw how the game would play in addition to receiving a release date. Perhaps what is most impressive about Matterfall is that it serves as the second game to release from Housemarque in 2017 coming off the release of Nex Machina last month. If you’re a fan of Housemarque developed games, then this summer has treated you well.
You can find the full gameplay video for yourself below if you’re interested. Matterfall is slated to release next month on August 15 in North America and August 16 in Europe exclusively for the PS4.
