The upcoming Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond VR game made a splashy appearance at Gamescom today. The story trailer gave us a great look at some of the fun interactions players can have in VR, while also providing a quick primer for the story. The game is set to launch later this year, so it's nice to see it coming along this well. Give the trailer a watch below, if you missed it.

Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond probably isn't going to be breaking too much new ground in terms of story-telling. That doesn't mean it's bad, it just means it's hard to see a game from this series doing anything too crazy. However, in terms of interactivity, the game looks great.

That sequence where you smash someone's head in with a statue and then fight through a hall of enemies was particularly great-looking. Hopefully, the statue signifies that you can use all kinds of objectives as weapons. That kind of adaptability goes a long way in making a VR game feel more real. There's also a segment where someone puts a grenade in a mail sorting booth, so I'm pretty sure this game is going to be alright.

Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond is set to launch later this year on Oculus Quest (via a PC Link) and Oculus Rift S. Hopefully, they can deliver on what looks like an immersive VR experience. Respawn Entertainment is the team behind the game. They've been knocking it out of the park lately, so expectations are high.
