As every Wednesday, the Media Cereate Software chart have been released for Japan, giving us a nice glimpse on the situation of the video game market in the archipelago of the rising sun.

Today’s charts, related to the week between February 17th and February 23rd, are relevant because they show the sales of the first PS4 games released locally. You can check it out below, with newly released titles bolded and lifetime sales between parenthesis.

  20. Need for Speed: Rivals  – PS4 – 6.602

Predictably, as we read from reports from store managers earlier this week, the attach rate for PS4 titles is very low, as the console sold over 300,000 units. Of course Knack‘s numbers are pretty irrelevant, since it was bundled with the hardware, and only Yakuza Ishin comes out from the fray with a decent amount of units moved.

This doesn’t come too much as a surprise. In addition to a free copy of Knack, Japanese gamers also got Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn’s beta and a very convenient upgrade program for cross-gen PS3 games, that form the majority of the list.

We’ll have to see if the attach rate will grow as the effect of those elements will be mitigated by time and by the discontinuation of the First Limited Pack with Knack, that will happen at the end of the month.
