Retro game fans around the world are eagerly awaiting Sega's entry into the throwback mini-console market with the Sega Genesis Mini, or as it's known in Europe, the Mega Drive Mini. The system's full lineup has been unveiled, so now we are all just waiting until it releases in September. Unfortunately, fans in both Europe and the Middle East will have to wait a bit longer for the Mega Drive Mini than those of us stateside will have to for the Sega Genesis Mini.

The delay was confirmed by SEGA Europe on Twitter earlier today. While the Mega Drive Mini was originally poised to release on September 19, it will now arrive two weeks later on October 4. As for why it was delayed, Sega Europe cites "unavoidable logistical challenges." If this means the launch of the Mega Drive Mini goes smoother in those territories, I'm sure European and Middle Eastern fans will ultimately be okay with this delay.

The North American branch of Sega has not mentioned any kind of delay, so the system still seems to be on track to release when expected in North America. DualShockers was able to check out the system out early at E3, so you can see our full impressions in our preview. The Sega Genesis Mini arrives in North America on September 19, 2019 and can be pre-ordered right now on Amazon. Meanwhile, those looking to pick up a Mega Drive Mini will have to wait until October 4, 2019.
