Following Capcom's Mega Man 11 announcement during the Mega Man 30th Anniversary Celebration, Director Koji Oda shared a few words with fans about Mega Man 11's development.

Evidently, producer Kazuhiro Tsuchiya admits that Oda-san approached him and said, "isn’t it about time that we make a new Mega Man game?" Which Oda-san admits that even though he has worked on 2D action games in the past, he has never worked on a Mega Man game and has always wanted to. Oda-san spent much of his time reading fan surveys and feedback about Mega Man and appreciated the large vocal fanbase.

Oda-san continued to remind fans that he understands that it's now Capcom's responsibility to deliver a true Mega Man experience. Also, he hopes that fans will enjoy the evolution of the Mega Man series as they give it a modern appeal. Ultimately, he wants to make long time Mega Man fans say, "We've been waiting for this!" and 2D action fans to say, "Yes, here we go. This is what we wanted".

Oda-san concluded by saying, "Thank you so much for waiting"
