Those of you wanting to go through a proper Mega Man game with Bad Box Art Mega Man are in for a disappointment, as it looks like Capcom has officially cancelled Mega Man Universe. The adorable Dave Oshry of RipTen reports that Andriasang was apparently one of the first to notice the cancellation on the official site, with no real reason beyond “various circumstances.”

From what I saw of Mega Man Universe, it looked like a thrown-together Mega Man game built on an extremely paper-thin concept. Playing levels with any/all of Capcom’s original characters was cool, but the levels themselves didn’t look too interesting, and the graphical style looked like something from an early PS2 game. If all my crazy-super-secret-awesome industry connections tell me anything, it’s that lots of folks felt the same way.
