As one of the most iconic and acclaimed games to ever release, this week marks 20 years since Metal Gear Solid first arrived on the PlayStation, and in celebration of the landmark stealth game’s release, a recently-released fan remake brings back all those nostalgic memories of the game’s iconic opening in stunning 4K.

A fan-made recreation of the Metal Gear Solid opening segment has made its way to YouTube from Erasmus Brosdau, a game artist and art director who previously worked on titles such as WarfaceHomefront: The Revolution, and Ryse: Son of Rome.

The remake was released in celebration of the game’s 20th anniversary, and according to Brosdau, the video itself was created in Unreal Engine 4 alongside various assets and other materials used to recreate the game’s signature intro section, but with modern day technology.

While the remake surely looks leagues better than the original game from a visual standpoint, it’s still a marvelous recreation of an all-time classic and surely worth experiencing for fans of the series, and should bring back some fond memories of the beginning of an incredible journey with Solid Snake.
