Releasing at the beginning of September after a highly-anticipated wait, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain marked many things as what may be the final Metal Gear title from series creator Hideo Kojima after a highly-public fallout between him and publisher Konami, though the latest earnings report from Konami show that The Phantom Pain so far has paid off well in sales and critical acclaim.

Konami revealed in its most recent earnings report that since its debut, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain has shipped over five million copies worldwide, with the report from Konami detailing the company's last six months of finances ending at September 30th, 2015.

The Phantom Pain released on September 1st, 2015 this year, and as a result the actual number at this time will most likely be quite higher, though it still bodes well for the latest (and possibly final) installment of the Metal Gear Solid series - the five million shipped figure from Konami address both physical and digital copies that the title has sold since launch, though conversions from shipments to final consumer sales have not yet been revealed by the company.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is available now for PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.
