Hinterland Studios has one more announcement up their sleeve with just about 48 hours left in the campaign: Solid Snake, also known as David Hayter, has joined the voice-acting cast. Hinterland has not immediately disclosed the identity of the role that Hayter will be playing when the game launches late next year.

David Hayter voiced the role of Solid Snake in numerous appearances across video games and other media between 1998 and 2013. He was recently replaced by Kiefer Sutherland, who will provide the voice of Big Boss, the protagonist in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. He has also a successful career as a screenwriter, co-writing films such as 2000’s X-Men, 2002’s X2: X-Men United, and 2009’s Watchmen.

The Long Dark is being developed by Hinterland Games for the PC, Mac, and Linux. The developers are shooting for an October 2014 release, and hope to eventually have the game released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as well. As of this post, the game has amassed $225,000, satisfying its base goal and first stretch goal, with 43 hours left in the campaign. You can check out the newly released vignettes below.
