The newest entry in the Metro series initially launched for PC on the Epic Game Store, which meant no Steam release at launch. Deep Silver made this deal with Epic Games because of its revenue split. Steam takes a 20 percent cut while the Epic Games Store took a 12 percent cut. It was always deemed a timed exclusive, hence the Metro Exodus Steam release’s date of February 15, exactly a year after it launched last year.
Even with Metro Exodus available exclusively on the Epic Games Store for its first year, it did rather well in comparison to the previous entry’s launch. In its first month, it sold over 2.5 times more than Metro: Last Light‘s Steam launch.
As stated earlier, Metro Exodus will be available on PC via Steam on February 15, 2020. If you really don’t have a preference where you play the game, it is also available on the Epic Games Store, as well as on PS4 and Xbox One. In fact, if you do own one of the various Xbox One consoles and have an Xbox Game Pass subscription, you can play Metro Exodus for no additional cost.
If you want to see what DualShockers thought of Metro Exodus, you can check out Ryan Meitzler’s review where he says, “While its transition to a semi-open-world structure may make for a radical change from what fans may expect from the series’ third installment, Metro Exodus expands on what has made the series so unique from anything else with a compelling mix of action, stealth, survival, and horror.”
