Metro fans will soon get an injection of brand-new, story-driven content. Following on the heels of The Two Colonels expansion for Metro Exodus is Sam's Story. It will give new insight into the former US Marine, as you try to guide him back to America. Fortunately, you won't have to wait long to see Sam's journey. The expansion drops February 11 on PC.

The Two Colonels, the first Metro Exodus expansion, brought the series back to its roots. It focused more on the linear, story-driven missions that the first two Metro games are known for. Because of that, it was well-received by fans of the original games. Sam's Story, on the other hand, looks to place more focus on the survival-sandbox elements that Exodus introduced to the series. It will be interesting to see how fans react to the change.

Of course, even if the gameplay is focused in a slightly different direction, that doesn't mean you shouldn't expect a pulse-pounding narrative. This is, after all, a Metro game. So, while the gameplay will skew more toward the survival side, the story should be worth a playthrough. Sam's Story mostly takes place in the city of Vladivostok; however, with his main goal being to make it back to America, I'm hopeful that we'll get to see what another part of the world looks like after the nuclear bombs hit. It might only be a cutscene or a short segment, but it would be intriguing to see the USA in this expansion.

Metro Exodus is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Sam's Story will launch on February 11 on PC, presumably with consoles to follow.
