If you are a Nintendo fan, you are most likely waiting for the release of Metroid Prime 4.

It's been five years since the latest installment in the fan-favorite franchise was announced. After that, it was there sheer silence around the game, and many believed that it has been canceled. Then in January 2019, it was announced that the game is being scrapped and restarted altogether. However, the fact that Retro Studios, the developers of the original Metroid Prime series, was handling the game is something that gave fans a glimmer of hope.

It was speculated that we will be getting a reveal during E3 2021, but we didn't see anything at all. Reports had stated that Nintendo has a Metroid Prime Trilogy ready to go, but it is holding it right now and will release it closer to the release of Metroid Prime 4. But, we haven't heard about Metroid Prime 4 after the 2019 development update. At this point, you might be pretty much feeling that this game is going to be the next Duke Nukem Forever.

Metroid Prime 4 New Job Listing Stirs Up Release Speculations

Today, Retro Studios posted a new tweet after almost 13 months, stating that they are looking for a Tools Engineer and Technology Engineer for their upcoming game Metroid Prime 4. Now, this has breathed fresh air into the release speculations, with the community taking different angles on the announcement.

Quite a number of fans on Twitter are angry about the absence of any development updates from the developer's end and they believe that considering that the developers are still hiring, the game seems to be far away from launch. In fact, many have a release window in their mind as well, stating that it could be a launch game for the next Nintendo console.

On the other hand, we have people being optimistic about the entire announcement, stating that it's been almost three years since the game has been in development (from the development restart announcement) so it is quite likely that we will be seeing something very soon.

So does the job listing actually mean we are far from launch? Probably not. Usually, developers are hired throughout the development process, so it shouldn't come as a surprise. However, what was surprising was that the developers were looking for a Lead Producer back in 2020. An important listing like that could possibly hint that the game is still very early in development. The good news is that contrary to what many believe, the game hasn't been canceled and is very much in development.
