Something Metroid Prime-related may be announced by Nintendo in the coming weeks according to a reliable leaker over on Reddit, though this is one of those rumors that definitely needs to be taken with a dose of salt.

The clue that Nintendo may be prepping for a Metroid-related announcement comes by way of a serial leaker who goes by the name "Fun_Way_6592" over on Reddit. According to one of the moderators of the popular GamingLeaksAndRumors subreddit, Fun_Way_6592 has sent a message to this particular moderator saying "do you think everyone is primed and ready?"

According to the moderator, the same user sent a similarly cryptic message saying "Zelda fans will be crying Tears of joy tomorrow" the day before Nintendo officially announced The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom for Nintendo Switch. Additionally, the user has a history of posting cryptic public messages in various Nintendo-related subreddits leaking The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, Wario Ware, and Splatoon 3, all before they were officially announced via Nintendo's much-anticipated Directs.

So, what does this latest cryptic message mean? When will the announcement come? What will actually be announced? These are the big questions, and it's difficult to give any answers at this time without diving into the realm of guesswork. However, given that it's the new year weekend, it seems unlikely that Nintendo will put out a Direct in the next few days with no notice, so perhaps fans should look forward to something in January or February of next year. But will it be Metroid Prime 4, or perhaps the rumored remakes of the original Metroid Prime and its sequels?

Metroid Prime 4 has been in development for years, with Nintendo officially announcing the shooter at E3 2017 with Bandai Namco supposedly taking on development duties. Sometime in 2019, development restarted with the task of bringing Metroid Prime 4 to Nintendo Switch changing hands to Retro Studios, the development house responsible for the original Metroid Prime trilogy.

The latest release in the Metroid series was Metroid Dread, a classic Metroid 2D side-scroller that did well with fans and critics alike when it was released back in October 2021 for Nintendo Switch.
