Microsoft Announces Kinect Adapter for Windows 8

In a new Microsoft blog post, the company announces that they have developed an adapter that would allow the Xbox One Kinect to work on Windows 8 PCs.

The adapter, called the Windows SDK 2.0 will be priced at $49.99 and can be attached to any Windows 8 PC or tablet. With the adapter, all Kinect v2 sensors (Kinect for Windows v2 and Kinect for Xbox One) perform identically.

Microsoft has also made the pairing support software, Kinect SDK 2.0 free to use — simply download here (registration is optional). Kinect apps can also be developed and deployed in the in Windows Store; a few have already been released such as Kinect Evolution, YAKiT and 3D Builder.
