Rumours that have been circulating regarding the shutdown of Microsoft’s oft criticized Games for Windows Live program are false, Microsoft has said.

In a statement to Game Informer, they said that the system will contine to be supported.

We are continuing to support the Games for Windows Live service.

We remain committed to investing in PC gaming in the years ahead, and look forward to sharing more in the future.

Despite this statement, Microsoft previously shut down the PC marketplace for Games for Windows Live.

Many developers whose games launched with Games for Windows Live infrastructure have also moved over to Steam or other systems. Microsoft’s statement does however mean that those games that haven’t made the move will still be playable.
