Microsoft Flight Simulator is Biggest Xbox Game Pass for PC Launch
The game has had over one million unique players in less than two weeks.
Last month was a busy one for Xbox Game Studios, with the release of three brand new titles. We got Battletoads from Dlala Studios and Rare, the first instalment of Tell Me Why from Dontnod Entertainment and the critically acclaimed Microsoft Flight Simulator. All three games were great in their own right, but it’s Microsoft Flight Simulator that seems to have hit the ground, or sky, running.
The franchise is Microsoft’s longest-running, dating back 38 years, and despite what you’d expect to be a slightly more niche audience, has found some major success this time out. In just over two weeks the game has had amassed more than one million unique players, making it the most successful Xbox Game Pass for PC launch of all time, as well as the most successful launch in the series’ history.
Alongside the news that the game has been incredibly successful, Microsoft shared some statistics from the first two weeks in the air. The one million+ players have made over 26 million flights between them, clocking up a staggering one billion miles flown. In that time, one player managed to undertake a flight that took them over 10 hours and over 7500 km.
They also broke down the three most popular aircraft in the game, with the most popular being the Daher TBM 930, second the Cessna Citation CJ4 and third the Airbus A320 Neo. The game has also clocked up more than six million hours worth of views on Twitch.
As of yesterday, Microsoft Flight Sim’s latest patch is available to download (22.214.171.124), fixing install issues amongst other things. The biggest problem with the patch however, is the fact that Microsoft is recommending a clean install, meaning wiping then downloading the full game from scratch again.
Microsoft Flight Simulator is available now on PC via Steam and Xbox Game Pass and will soon be available on Xbox.
