Originally launched back in 2020 for PC and 2021 for Xbox Series X, Microsoft Flight Simulator hits a new milestone in the amount of its player base as the game reaches over 10 million players across all platforms.

The announcement was made by Microsoft in an official blog post, where the franchise owner revealed that the game has reached such a huge player base 27 months after its original launch. During this period, Asobo Studios has published 27 updates free updates for the game, adding new locations, new airports, and of course, new planes and choppers.

Along with this announcement, Microsoft also shared some interesting statistics about the player activity in the game since its launch. 500 million flights have been started in the game since its launch. Pilots have flown over 40 billion miles across the world. This equals 10 million trips around the Earth or 200 rounds of trips from Earth to the Sun. The number is indeed a gigantic one, but fans would probably be interested to know how many of these flights were successful and how many ended up in crashes.

Aside from Xbox and PC, Microsoft Flight Simulator is also available on the Cloud, which contributes to the number of players who have experienced the game, especially those who don't have an Xbox Series X or a powerful PC.

Microsoft did reveal that the content support from Flight Simulator will continue in 2023 as well, as the developer has exciting plans for the future of the game. Earlier this year, Microsoft revealed the 40th Anniversary version of its Flight Simulator, which comes with all the post-launch expansions that include many different planes and helicopters. You can currently purchase it either from Steam or the Microsoft Store. It's worth noting that Xbox and PC Game Pass subscribers receive free access to the Standard version of the game.

Currently, Microsoft Flight Simulator is available on Microsoft Store at a significant discount. You can get the Standard Edition for $48, while the Premium Deluxe Edition is available for $96. It remains unknown how long these discounts will be around, but the Steam version doesn't feature the same discounts at the moment.
