While the release of the Xbox Series X is a ways away, we know a lot about the console already. We know what it looks like, what hardware it has, and even what the controller will look like. Somehow, that's more than we know about the PS5. Today we got a look at one more part of the Xbox Series X, a part of the Xbox franchise that Microsoft, frankly, has always nailed: the console's logo

Xbox Series X Logo

Filed as a trademark by Microsoft, the new logo is a grand departure from that of previous consoles. That's right, gone are the days of the massive, grey sphere with a radioactive green X glowing in its middle. That icon, which has been used for both the Xbox One and the Xbox 360, seems to be retired. In its place is a much more modern, simple logo. The iconic "X" for Xbox is still there, in a stylized fashion, and next to it is the word "SERIES." It's a fairly straight forward approach for their logo, although considering what the PS5 logo looks like, it's on par.

Looking through the filing, it's easy to see that Microsoft seems to be going all-in on this logo. It's been trademarked for use in just about everything, which I do mean literally. You could potentially see the new Series X logo on not just clothing, but jewelry, vending machines, on leather, on kitchen utensils, and the list goes on and on. It's hard to tell whether the trademark was registered with so many classifications to cover eventual production or just to be safe.

The Xbox Series X is set to launch later this year.
