Microsoft Renews Killer Instinct Trademark

Old school gamers will fondly remember Killer Instinct, a stylish fighting series developed by Rare that rose to fame in the 90s. After just three installments – one of which was only a Nintendo 64 port of Killer Instinct 2 – the series faded from relevance. Today, Microsoft themselves have announced that they have renewed the Killer Instinct trademark. What this means exactly is anyone’s guess, but it’s a fair assumption that either a new release or a re-release  (or both) is planned somewhere down the line.

Microsoft owns Rare, so any Killer Instinct re-release or new installment will probably be Xbox 360 exclusive. We’ll keep watch for new developments.
