If you were to ask Microsoft about the existence of a next gen console, you would probably recieve a reply along the lines of "we don't comment on rumor or speculation." However, with a recent hike in security at the Microsoft campus, more specifically their Xbox headquarters, it seems that not only is next gen Xbox planning at work, it's likely in full swing.

According to a report from Geekwire, "The company notified employees this week that it will be implementing new physical security measures — limiting employee access at four key Xbox and Interactive Entertainment Business buildings to ensure confidentiality of upcoming products. The changes will affect Microsoft Studios A, B, C, and D, on the west side of state Route 520, starting early next month with Studio A and rolling out to the other buildings by the end of the month."

I think we can all agree here and say that "physical security" is not being put in place for upcoming products like Xbox Music or Xbox Movies. Project Durango, Xbox Next, or whatever it's going to be called is obviously the focus here. While the excitement from this fall's offerings in terms of games will breathe new life into our current gen consoles, it's nice to see more clear as day indicators that next gen is right around the corner.

Dammit E3, why are you in the summer?
