Microsoft to Allow Self-Publishing on the Xbox One

There’s been some dialogue on whether or not Microsoft would allow smaller developers to self-publish their projects for the Xbox One. It turns out that the console will be indie friendly after all, as Microsoft has confirmed that the Xbox One will indeed support self-publishing. This confirmation comes via a chat Major Nelson had with Microsoft’s Xbox Corporate Vice President Marc Whitten. He says their vision at Xbox is that:

“Every person can be a creator. That every Xbox One can be used for development. That every game and experience can take advantage of all of the features of Xbox One and Xbox LIVE. This means self-publishing.”

More information on the self-publishing program will come out of Germany’s Gamescom event, which will be held from August 21st to the 25th.
