The previously delayed Minecraft x Super Smash Bros. Ultimate amiibos now have a release date as Nintendo confirms Steve and Alex will be arriving on September 9th.

Earlier this year, Nintendo announced that the Minecraft amiibos, which were originally slated to release in Spring 2022, were delayed due to "logistics issues". The announcement was made via the official Nintendo of America Twitter account, where the release was delayed to "later in 2022". News on the release of the Minecraft amiibos has been quiet ever since, but Nintendo has now finally confirmed that both Steve and Alex would receive their own amiibos on September 9th.

The upcoming release of the Steve and Alex amiibos are based on their additions as characters in the hit Nintendo fighting game, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. The infamous Minecraft characters joined the game back in October of 2020 as part of the Challenger Pack 7, which also included a new stage, music tracks, and several spirits.

Although Steve was the only new fighter to be added to the pack, the character did have alternative skins featuring Alex, Zombie, and Enderman. The announcement was made at the beginning of October back in 2020, and fans loved it so much that it actually caused Twitter to completely crash.

Now, almost 2 years since the inclusion of the Minecraft characters, players will finally be able to get their hands on the new amiibo set on September 9th. Unfortunately, pricing details were not revealed by Nintendo, with the characters also not appearing on their official website just yet.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's final DLC character, Sora from the Kingdom Hearts series, was introduced towards the end of last year, which means fans are now patiently awaiting the arrival of a new entry into the fighting series.

But, in other Nintendo news, it was revealed by the lead developers of Xenoblade Chronicles 3 that the map is actually five times larger than its predecessor. The new entry in the series was released today to rave reviews by critics.
