Minecraft Enters Beta December 20

For those of you obsessing over Minecraft and wondering when the hell, if ever, it’ll be moving from it’s Alpha status into the Beta phase, look no further, as it’s set to move into Beta on December 20.  According to creator Notch’s Tumblr, the Beta will bring “a larger focus on polish and content”, along with a little bit of narrative and a late game goal to keep the player’s interest throughout the game.

Additionally, the price is going to be increased to 14.95 Euro, and starting from the Beta, all future releases and updates will no longer be free. So if you’re looking to get in on this cult following, buy it before December 20 to get all future updates for free.

I still haven’t caved in to this madness, but this just might persuade me to waste my hours punching trees for building materials.  You can purchase Minecraft here.

Allen is an utter whore of a gamer; he's completely open-minded to all games, be they AAA blockbusters or $5 casual children's games. His focus is on indie games specifically, valuing gameplay and ingenuity over sparkly visuals and ridiculous gimmicks. When he's not geeking out over the newest art game, he's out toning his sexy, sculpted shoulders while surfing epic 1.5ft waves, or having a good time with local, high-gravity microbrews.
