Prior to the start of the World Series tomorrow, Sony has today formally unveiled MLB The Show 20 and the first details on next year's installment in the annualized baseball franchise.

This year, Chicago Cubs shortstop Javier Baez will be the player gracing the cover of MLB The Show 20. Baez has become one of the league's best players in recent years, finishing second behind Christian Yelich in the National League's MVP race in 2018. He also won a World Series title with the Cubs in 2016, breaking the team's 108-year championship drought.

"I am so honored and excited to be on the cover of MLB The Show 20," Baez said of being on the game's box art this year. "I’ll never forget how it felt when I saw myself in the game for the first time (even as a backup!). It was so surreal. Still, it’s one thing to see your virtual self, but it’s completely next level to be on the cover of a game you’ve played and love. Let’s go!"

In addition to unveiling the game's cover, Sony also announced that MLB The Show 20 will be dropping on March 17, 2020. It'll still be exclusive to PS4, of course, but there will be a variety of different editions of the game that you can pick up.

If you've purchased an MLB The Show game before, you're likely already familiar with the different versions of the game. This coming year, there will be four different ways to buy the game: the standard edition, MVP edition, digital deluxe edition, and the Anniversary edition. Each version outside of the standard edition comes with additional stubs (in-game currency), card packs, or team avatars.

Furthermore, if you want to get in on the action a bit earlier, those who pre-order one of the versions outside of the standard edition will gain access to the game nearly a week early on March 13. If you want to read more on this, you can find additional info over on the PlayStation Blog.

We should start to see more gameplay footage from MLB The Show 20 as the calendar turns over to 2020, so stay tuned. In the meantime, don't forget to download MLB The Show 19 os one of this month's PS Plus games if you haven't already.
