MLB The Show fans from around the world were greeted with a surprise that sent ripples through the gaming industry.

The game is developed by San Diego Studio, a Sony first-party developer and is published by Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) themselves. However, despite its heavy PlayStation ties, the game is releasing on the Xbox series of consoles for the first time ever.

There's a little bit of confusion around the release, so we've broken it all down for you right here. Here is the MLB The Show 21 Digital Deluxe Edition Release Time and Date.

What is the release date for the game?

This is where things get a little bit confusing.

The game is releasing on a range of consoles (PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S and Xbox Series S) as well as having three different editions.

The game will be available in the Standard Edition, Deluxe Edition and the Jackie Robinson Edition.

You can find the release dates for each edition listed below:

  • Standard Edition - April 20
  • Deluxe Edition - April 16
  • Jackie Robinson Edition - April 16

That means excited players will be able to get their hands on a copy of the game tomorrow, provided they opt for one of the two more expensive editions.

What is the MLB The Show 21 Release Time?

According to the UK Xbox Store, the game will be releasing at 5:00 am. The US Xbox Store offers the exact same information, meaning, that regardless of your timezone, you'll be able to play the game from 5:00 am on Xbox.

It's highly likely that the game will be launching at the exact same time on Xbox Game Pass.

The UK PlayStations store has a countdown of 16hrs (at the time of writing) meaning the game will drop at midnight on the 20th. The US PS Store has 21 hours remaining (EST) - this almost certainly means the game will release at midnight in every local timezone.
