Last year, Bandai Namco Entertainment released the free to play 6v6 shooter Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation 2 for PS4 in Japan. While the Japanese version of the game did eventually receive English language support, it never officially came westward. That's fine set to change this year though, as Bandai Namco Entertainment just revealed during the Play Anime! panel at Anime Expo today that Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation 2 is headed westward.

Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation 2 is a follow up to a popular Japanese free-to-play game for PS3. As all services for that PS3 game shut down in 2017, this game is now the primary free to play Gundam-focused game for Bandai Namco Entertainment. Exposing the game to a western audience will likely bolster interest in the title, which is poised to get new Gundams, customization options, stages, and events after its western launch.

When it comes to gameplay, players can fight both inside and outside of the mechas, allowing for some more dynamic encounters. Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation 2 also throws space battles into the mix, leading to a lot more variation when it comes to maps. After each battle, players earn development points that can be used to upgrade and customize their mecha.
