Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 was finally revealed at the Summer Games Fest, but fans are not quite happy with the graphics of the game.

As soon as the gameplay trailer was revealed, fans were quite disappointed with the graphics of the game. From the looks of it, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 does look pretty good, but in reality, if one looks at it keeping in mind current-gen consoles, the graphics would definitely look quite sub-par.

The expectations from Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 were quite high considering the fact that the developers had emphasized heavily the new engine that the game was being built on. This new engine is developed by Infinity Ward, Treyarch, and Sledgehammer Games together, the developers who have been behind some of the most critically acclaimed Call of Duty games of all time. Notably, this is the engine that will be used for Warzone 2 as well.

Obviously, one of the main reasons for the mediocre graphics could be the fact that the game will be released on last-gen consoles as well. Considering the significantly weaker hardware of those consoles, it is quite irrational to expect graphics that would go beyond what we have seen already. And that is where many have come up with the fact that the developers should have ditched last-gen consoles altogether.

But does it really make sense for Infinity Ward? Probably not. A majority of the players buy these games for multiplayer, and for that, it would make a lot of sense for Infinity Ward to support as many platforms as possible. Surely they could have pushed the limits if it was a current-gen only release, but it would come at the cost of millions of players.
