Despite previous reports, a prominent Call of Duty leaker claims that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Campaign Remastered is real, and is actually complete and waiting for release.

The news comes from TheGhostOfHope, who has correctly leaked various Call of Duty details in the past. According to their source, "Modern Warfare 3 Campaign Remastered isn't cancelled like previously reported. It is complete and is just sitting there waiting for the right time to be released".

This goes against a previous report by CharlieIntel, who spoke to a representative for Activision last year. When quizzed about the possibility of a remastered campaign for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Activision said "A remaster of Modern Warfare 3, campaign or multiplayer, does not exist. Any reports otherwise are incorrect".

Of course, Activision isn't going to exactly confirm the existence of a remaster if they have no solid plans for the release. According to Hope's source, the claims that the title is cancelled or not being released is false, and is instead simply waiting for the right time to release.

Given Activision's track record of remastering older Call of Duty titles in the Modern Warfare series, a campaign remaster of Modern Warfare 3 isn't too far-fetched. Back in 2017, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Remastered was released alongside Infinite Warfare, and even included a fully functioning Multiplayer mode. Then, 3 years later, Activision surprised everyone by dropping Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered. Although a Multiplayer mode wasn't included with the remaster, fans were eager to once again jump into the classic campaign.

In a follow-up tweet, Hope points out that Activision has denied claims in the past, but he believes releasing the remastered campaign during the life cycle of Modern Warfare II would be the right move. Unlike previous Call of Duty titles, the upcoming release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II will reportedly have a 2-year life cycle, with no new title releasing in 2023. This would be the first time since 2004 that there hasn't been a year release for Call of Duty.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II is set to launch on October 28th for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
