Whaaaat? Shut the front door! Are these rumors true? Online rumors are reporting that Modern Warfare 3 is well into production and is expected later in the year. Now, this hasn’t been officially announced yet — it’s not like we didn’t see it coming — but it’s being reported on the L.A. Times blog Company Town that this will be the first Modern Warfare title to be developed with outside help. Supposedly, Sledgehammer Games will be sharing the development duties behind the single-player alongside Infinity Ward, and Raven Software is said to be handling multiplayer.
If these online speculations are correct, we can expect another Call of Duty game in the near future. Is this good or bad? Is bringing in the help of outside development teams what this franchise needs? Given the latest BlOps (Bloops, I’m mean Black Ops) success and the previous success of the Call of Duty series, it’s no surprise that another game was going to drop. Again, all of this is speculation and the rumor mill is really no place for the cool kids to hang out at. But, be sure to check back on this issue in the upcoming months as I’m sure that we will be out on the front lines getting the scoop.
