Back in March, we found out that Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is now available on Xbox One via the system's backward compatibility function, but at the time we didn't know any news about the rest of the entries in the subseries. Now, we know about at least one as Activision and Microsoft announced that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has also joined the list.

Of course, as with all other backward compatible titles, players will have access to all of the game's features, including the campaign, multiplayer, and spec ops modes, as well as all of the DLC for the game, which if you remember correctly, was a lot of content due to Call of Duty: ELITE (throwback!).

With the addition of Modern Warfare 3, that only leaves Modern Warfare 2 as the outlier, but if the rumors are to be trusted, Activision may be planning for a remaster of the title, so don't be surprised if it doesn't appear any time soon.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 was originally released in 2011, and is also available on PlayStation 3 and PC.
