Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Getting PS4-Exclusive Gunfight Alpha This Week

Call of Duty fans rejoice! Modern Warfare's new 2v2 Gunfight mode is going to be getting a PS4-exclusive alpha this week.

If you’ve been wanting to get your hands on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and you don’t want to wait until September for the beta, then get ready. Today, Activision and Infinity Ward announced that the game’s Gunfight mode will be receiving a free alpha, exclusively on PlayStation 4 this week.

While no specific maps have been announced, the alpha will more than likely include a slew of maps from the game’s previously revealed mode, including Docks, Pine, Speedball, and more.

Unfortunately, if you’re an Xbox or PC fan I wouldn’t get your hopes up, as it seems like it’s unlikely that the alpha is making its way to those systems.

For those that don’t know, Gunfight pits two players against another two players in what appears to be an incredibly fast-paced game mode. Players will only have a couple of minutes to take out the other player. If both teams don’t move for a certain amount of time, a flag will spawn in the center and whoever captures it, wins the round. No custom classes are allowed in the mode and each class is randomly selected at the beginning of each round.

The alpha is certainly welcome for Modern Warfare, especially considering how quiet Infinity Ward has been about the game before the multiplayer reveal at the beginning of August. This will finally give players a chance to get their hands on what’s easily one of the most anticipated first-person shooters this year.

The alpha is set to go live on August 23, 2019, while the whole game will be available on October 25, 2019.
