Call of Duty: Modern Warfare developer Infinity Ward confirmed via its website that the game's first content season has been officially extended, just a few days ago.

With the extension, the season is now set to end on February 11, in contrast to its previous end date which was sometime towards the end of January.

While this extension gives players enough time to rank up through the game's current battle pass if they haven't already, it also gives them time to earn some of the new content being added, the most notable of which includes a new crossbow weapon.

Currently, there's no telling when exactly the crossbow will be added to the game, nor exactly how hard it will be for players to earn, although the news post from Infinity Ward's website mentions that it'll be earnable through in-game challenges.

Beyond the new crossbow, players will also be able to sink their teeth into new "remixed" game modes, playlists, cosmetic DLCs in the game's store, and more. In addition, the developer said that they plan on holding numerous 2XP, 2X Weapon XP, and 2X tier events throughout the course of the season.

While I'm happy that more people will be able to experience the game's current season of content, I don't think this extension, nor the additional content it's adding, will be enough to satisfy the players who are desperately seeking new content in the game. While the game's DLC and updates are all free, we haven't gotten a new map since the middle of December, which was a little over a month ago.

Funny enough, I recently wrote an editorial about the game's current state of content and it deals directly with this subject.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC.
