Today, during PlayStation China’s press conference in Shanghai, Sony and Oasis Games presented a new trailer of Monkey King: Hero is Back.

The video showcased the first gameplay, and it looks quite sleek indeed.

If you’re not familiar with the title, based on a series of myths that are massively popular in China, it’s a monster-slaying adventure game based on the 2015 movie directed by Tian Xiao Peng.

The game is described as an  AAA-level production co-developed by Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan Studio and Osaka-based developer HexaDrive, with Oasis Games acting as the publisher worldwide.

At the end of the showcase, we also learned that the game will come in early 2019. Last year we received confirmation that Monkey King: Hero is Back is confirmed for a western release for PS4, so we can definitely expect to play this one in English some time down the line.

You can check out the trailer below. If you want to see more, you can enjoy some screenshots from last year and the original announcement trailer.
