In a year that has been full of delays due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, no other industry has perhaps been hit harder than that of the film business. As of today, yet another upcoming fall release has been pushed back to 2021.

Sony Pictures' big-screen adaptation of Monster Hunter that will star Milla Jovovich has officially been delayed to next year. Originally slated to launch in September, the film will now be due out on April 23, 2021.

As for the reason why Monster Hunter has been delayed, well, the coronavirus is surely the culprit. Other big-name films within the year such as TenetBlack Widow, and many others have either been pushed back later into 2020 or have instead been outright delayed into next year, much like Monster Hunter. With many movie theaters around the globe, and especially those within the United States, still closed for business, it becomes a bit more complicated to release as normal.

When it comes to the movie itself, there's still not much we have seen about Monster Hunter. For now, an official trailer for the film has yet to drop, with the only things that we have really seen been in the way of one-off images or posters. While some classic iconography from the video game series has shown up in some of these promotional materials, we have yet to really get an idea for how the movie itself will look when in action.

Despite the delay, hopefully, it won't be too long until we can get a look at what Monster Hunter's first film adaptation will end up looking like.
