Monster Hunter: World Fans are Asking Capcom to Bring Godzilla to the Game
Fans of Capcom's Monster Hunter: World are dreaming of being able to see the most famous kaiju of all realized in-game.
Monster Hunter: World has been a massive success for Capcom. Not only is it the publisher’s best-selling game ever, but it has continued to receive worthwhile updates since first launching last year. Even though Monster Hunter: World already has a lot to offer, and even more soon with the upcoming Iceborne expansion, some fans are dreaming of even more content that Capcom could add.
In a recent thread over on the official Monster Hunter: World subreddit, one player said that it would be a dream come true if somehow, someway, Capcom would be able to bring Godzilla to the game. That’s right, the most popular monster of all-time added to the most popular monster hunting game of all-time. It seems like a perfect marriage on paper, and many fans in the thread agreed.
“It would be my dream come true if Capcom teams up with Legendary or Toho to do a collab and add in Godzilla to the game,” said the originator of the post, u/LMEOXDRAWR. “It would be so cool seeing and fighting him… maybe even getting Godzilla armor.”
Another person in the thread took this idea one step further and suggested that Capcom try to bring over King Ghidorah, the legendary nemesis of Godzilla, too. “[A] siege where you help Godzilla fight off Ghidorah,” this user suggested for an idea on how to implement both monsters in the game. This got even more people in the thread talking about potential armor ideas that your Hunter could don based off of both Godzilla and Ghidorah.

As I said, on paper, this idea makes a ton of sense. The only holdup, as the originator of the thread mentioned upfront, would be getting Legendary or Toho, the owners of the Godzilla property, to play ball. And because of that, I have a hard time believing something like this could ever come to fruition. Still, we’ve seen crazier crossovers in gaming in the past, so maybe this isn’t as far-fetched as you might initially think.
Even though this might never happen, it’s always fun to dream up ideas such as this. I know I’ll cross my fingers at the very least and hold out hope to see something associated with the King of the Monsters in Monster Hunter down the line.
Monster Hunter: World is out now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The game’s Iceborne expansion is slated to release on PS4 and Xbox One on September 6, with the PC version coming later on.
