The acclaimed medieval multiplayer game Mordhau will finally make its way to Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5, developer Triternion has officially announced. Although an exact release date for the console release was not confirmed, the developers did share a special announcement trailer, which can be viewed below.

Aside from the announcement trailer, not many details regarding the console version of Mordhau were shared, but players can expect the beloved action slasher game to utilize the hardware and visual enhancements on the next-gen consoles. The PlayStation 5 version of Mordhau will likely make use of the next-gen console DualSense controller, too.

The game currently has no controller support on the PC platform, even though it has been more than three years since its full launch. This means Triternion will likely have to pay extra attention while making Mordhau compatible with consoles. Whether or not PC players will receive console support when Mordhau launches for Xbox and PlayStation is currently unknown.

Mordhau is a first-person, online co-op game with fast-paced combat and a wide array of customization options, allowing players to reflect their style on the battlefield. Players can create hectic matches in multiplayer mode with up to 64 players. For those who are unfamiliar with Mordhau, the team-based fighting game not only emphasizes melee combat but also allows players to kill their enemies from a distance with ranged weapons. It also features Horde and AI mode, in which players can battle against waves of enemies with their friends.

Players will have to develop new strategies according to the course of the battle and work in sync to take down the opposite team. This is the hardest part of the game as there will be dozens of maverick chevaliers who have to stick to the plan. It is safe to say that if the match proceeds in chaos, both teams have an equal chance to win. Using siege engines such as the catapult and ballista efficiently can change the result in your favor. Mordhau joins the long list of PC games coming to consoles, including Freedom Planet 2, Dinkum, and Robo Revenge Squad.
