SonicFox, one of the highest-rated fighting game players of all time, has cemented themselves in Mortal Kombat history yet again. At Final Kombat, they are starting the year strong with a crushing victory through the losers bracket to take the tournament from NinjaKilla 3-1.

The grand finals of Final Kombat was a nail-biter. SonicFox won the first best-of-five set from the losers bracket, leading to a reset; they then beat NinjaKilla three-to-one. After their victory, Dominique "SonicFox" McLean, a furry who identifies as non-binary, then donned their iconic fox helmet and trans pride flag. On stage, after being awarded a trophy version of Shao Kahn's maul, SonicFox slipped over to the MC and took his mic to tell everyone watching to "vote Bernie." Afterward, they took off with their well-deserved trophy and the tournament's $40,000 prize pool.

In 2019, SonicFox played consistently, earning either second or first place at every MK11 Tournament they attended. This includes events at Combo Breaker, EVO, and CEO. At Combo Breaker 2019, they actually lost to Scar while they took first at both EVO 2019 and CEO 2019.

This isn't the first time SonicFox has used their prize-winning platform to voice political matters. After an outstanding overall performance in 2018 in which SonicFox was the champion in Soulcaliber 6, Dragon Ball Fighters Z and Injustice 2, they were awarded the title of E-Sports Player of the Year at the Game Awards. During their speech, SonicFox gained national attention saying "I'm gay, black, a furry - pretty much everything a Republican hates."
