Using the Nintendo Switch version of Mortal Kombat 11, Reddit users may have found out the roster of DLC characters coming to the game via "Kharacter Packs". Obviously, take this article with a healthy grain of salt as the leaks come via digging into the game's code. The information has been verified as in the game by other Reddit users, but don't be surprised if this list of DLC characters changes in the coming months.

With those qualifiers out of the way, here is the full list of nine DLC characters allegedly coming to Mortal Kombat 11 (sadly, Shaggy is not one of them):

  • Shang Tsung
  • Nightwolf
  • Sindel
  • Fujin
  • Sheeva
  • Joker
  • Terminator
  • Spawn
  • Ash (Evil Dead)

It's certainly an interesting list of Kombatants and one that isn't completely unbelievable. Sindel, Nightwolf, and Shang Tsung were all playable in Mortal Kombat 2011, with Sheeva joining as DLC. And all the Mortal Kombat characters outside of Sheeva played a part in the story of Mortal Kombat X (though none were playable). So, they all make sense. The guest characters are where things get interesting.

Mortal Kombat X used Alien, Jason Voorhees, Leatherface, and Predator for its guest characters, so Terminator and Ash from Evil Dead would feel very "on brand". Terminator also has a movie coming out this November, so if the DLC characters are dropping once per month, he could be coming out right around the time of the film release.

Spawn made an guest appearance in the Xbox version of SoulCalibur II. He also fits fairly well into the dark, gore-filled Mortal Kombat universe. Joker, on the other hand, feels a little weird at first glance.

Developer NetherRealm Studios has said in the past that they wouldn't use DC characters in Mortal Kombat again. However, Mortal Kombat 11 is being published by Warner Brothers, who also owns DC. And, it just so happens that WB has a new Joker movie coming out this October. This kind of brand synergy and cross-marketing seems like a logical move for the company to make and might be why Joker is potentially being included.

All in all, this leak makes a lot of sense. Every character seems plausible and fits with the Mortal Kombat franchise in some way. Only time will tell if the leak is truly legitimate, but we only have to wait until tomorrow to play the game ourselves. Mortal Kombat 11 is out April 23, 2019, for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
