Mortal Kombat 11 hasn't even been in the public consciousness for a week at this point but already fans are clamoring to know just which characters will make an appearance on the roster this time around. Well, one character outside of the realm of Mortal Kombat might be joining the fight this time around if a recent potential hint turns out to be accurate.

Over on Reddit this evening, famous comic book creator and artist Todd McFarlane was somewhat randomly asked during an AMA if one of his most famous characters, Spawn, would be appearing on the roster for Mortal Kombat 11. McFarlane responded by simply saying, "I believe he's on his way..."

Now, this is by no means a confirmation that Spawn will be present in Mortal Kombat 11, so don't get too excited just yet. That said, NetherRealm did end up including quite a few other characters as DLC from famous mediums in Mortal Kombat X with Jason Vorhees, Predator, Leatherface, and an Alien (Xenomorph) all joining the roster. Plus, Spawn has always been a violent character himself and his inclusion in the world of Mortal Kombat would seem like a natural fit. He's also been in a fighting game in the past, too, previously appearing on the Xbox version of SoulCalibur II.

As also pointed out be ResetEra user Pixelbuster, Spawn is about to enter the spotlight much more in the coming years as a new film centered around the character is still in the early stages of production. Putting Spawn in Mortal Kombat 11 would be a great way to promote the character and get attention from fans once again.

Whether or not Spawn will actually be in MK11 or is just wishful thinking on McFarlane's part remains to be seen. Hopefully, we'll learn more about this and other Mortal Kombat 11 details next month during the game's community reveal on January 17.

Mortal Kombat 11 is set to release on April 23 for PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC.
