Chilean streamer Parallax has achieved greatness among the Mortal Kombat community by breaking the Mortal Kombat 3 speedrun world record.

Parallax made over four hours worth of attempts to break the record. While the parameters aren't really laid out, it seems in order to be eligible, you need to complete the "Master" tower as fast as possible with any character; the previous record was at 4 minutes and 37 seconds. The time began once the tower was chosen and ended when Shao Kahn was defeated. Using Kabal, Parallax got the Mortal Kombat 3 speedrun world record at 4 minutes and 34 seconds (4:34.66 to be precise).

The strategy for speedrunning Mortal Kombat 3 looks rather simple. I'm sure it is just because Parallax just understands this game more than any ordinary person would, but it is so surprising how easy it looks. So much so, I might bust out my SNES copy and see if I can even complete one round in this way. As seen above, you basically want to get the first hit and just hit high punch until your opponent goes down.

To be clear, I'm not saying this is easy. Parallax obviously knows his way around Mortal Kombat 3, pulling off some good combos against Shao Kahn at the end, and being able to read the CPU's moves is not a skill set every player has. Motaro has just always been a problem for me when I used to play Mortal Kombat 3, and seeing this guy beat him so easily is both disheartening (because I'm a terrible MK 3 player) and inspirational.

I may not be the best Mortal Kombat 3 player, but Mortal Kombat 11 is a different story. Just ask our news editor Tomas and managing editor Logan. With Joker coming to the game in a couple of weeks, that means only one more fighter remains from the Kombat Pack.
