Mortal Kombat experienced a healthy revival back in 2011, and since then while things have been fairly quiet on the prospects of a follow-up title in the new Mortal Kombat, but fans' yearnings for the release of classic MK games, specifically on Wii U, seems unlikely according to series creator Ed Boon.

Responding to a series of fan questions on Twitter, Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon mentioned in reply to a question on the possibility of releasing classic MK titles on Wii U that there would be a "0.0%" chance of that happening. While the question asked if the older MK titles would be releases to Wii U, specifically Mortal Kombat 1-3, Boon response indicates it's not happening, despite Mortal Kombat's affiliation with previous Nintendo consoles, such as the SNES, Nintendo 64, and Wii, despite the latest Mortal Kombat title having not released for Wii back in 2011.
