Relaxing games are what allow players to be able to take a break after a long day. They let players sit down and mindlessly let loose. These games come in all shapes and sizes. Some involve no action or close to no action while others involve gameplay that is simple to run through. No matter how the game is played, when a gamer comes across a game that can help them relax it's a special moment in their life.

The games presented on this list will offer a variety of different playstyles and gameplay types. The nature of the ranking makes this list highly subjective as what relaxes one gamer might not relax another. With that said every type of gamer should be able to find at least one or two games, they could sit down and relax with.

10 10/10 The Binding Of Isaac: Rebirth

The Binding Of Isaac Rebirth Gameplay

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth is not a game that many people would expect to see on this list. This is because of its difficulty and roguelike nature. Anyone that has ever played this game knows that this game is extremely relaxing though. The game offer gameplay that can in theory be played forever. There are 547 items in the game with the DLC included that all add different cosmetic or stat alterations.

The replayability of this game and the need to start fresh during every death make the game easy to sit back to and sink time into. Its difficulty might turn some people away though and cause some people more stress than relaxation.

9 9/10 Me And My Katamari

Me And My Katamari Gameplay

Me and My Katamari is part of the Katamari series. While all of these games are very relaxing this is one of the most. Firstly, it has a name that's fun to say. Second, this game was on the PSP and the handheld option of playing this game was great. It allowed players to be able to take it anywhere.

Gamers going on a long drive were able to enjoy the upbeat music and enigmatic style that make it a pleasure to play. The gameplay having the main character roll a ball that continuously gets bigger as it sucks things up is surprisingly calm. The only complaint against the relaxation of this game is that levels can get extremely difficult and frustrating.

8 8/10 Borderlands

Borderlands 3 Main Characters Fight Off Enemies

Borderlands is another game that people might be confused to see on this list. The thing about any of the Borderlands games is that their gameplay allows for mindlessly mowing down enemies. Some can argue that the games get more difficult as the games progress but that difficulty is artificial in many ways. That is not to knock on Borderlands as this is what adds to the charm of the game.

Players can get home after a long day of work, sit down, and blast through enemies with a character that gets exponentially gets stronger. Unloading hundreds of thousands of bullets into enemies for a couple of hours is a great way to relax.

7 7/10 Flower

In Flower, players can control flower petals using the wind. As the petals go through different dystopian-Esque settings they turn them into beautiful looking landmarks. The gameplay of the game is simple and sucks players in as soon as they pick up the control.

Flower offers challenges but they are never dropped onto the player in a way that is too difficult. The point of the game feels as though the player is supposed to enjoy the game for the moving art piece that it presents itself as.

6 6/10 Animal Crossing

Animal Crossing GameCube logo

Animal Crossing is a life simulation that puts players in a world with very little consequence. This is where a lot of the game's relaxing elements come into play.

Players in any Animal Crossing game don't have to worry about completing difficult tasks or killing ferocious enemies. Instead, they worry about having to pay rent for a bigger house and collecting bugs. The game offers a lot to do in terms of collecting items. It also offers relaxing tasks that players can help out with around the town.

5 5/10 Little Inferno

Little Inferno Gameplay

Little Inferno is a game where players are living in a dystopian future where kids have furnaces to burn things in. The story is interesting and the gameplay is simple yet entertaining. All the player does while the game progresses is buy items and burn them.

Players progress by figuring out different items to burn together based on riddles. Burning said items together will cause different visuals to occur. The aesthetic of the game mixed with the somewhat mindless nature of achieving the game's end is masterfully implemented for optimal relaxation.

4 4/10 Fez

Fez Main Character Gomez Overlooking The Side Of A Cliff

Fez is a 2D game that is played in a 3D world. The game revolves around players having to flip the worlds they travel to in a cube-like 3-dimensional manner. This will change the two-dimensional plane that players can travel on. There aren't any real threats in the game. Most of the gameplay consists of solving different puzzles that will allow the main character to collect items.

The graphics of the game are also intricately designed making all of the areas feel as though they are part of the same world, but distinctive in their style.

3 3/10 Stardew Valley

Stardew Valley Farm In Front of House

Stardew Valley is a life simulator masked as a farming simulator. Players can be able to complete a ton of different quests in the game's main city. Farming is part of the game and how players make the most of their money. However, there are also a lot of other activities that players can partake in.

Players are able to go into the mines and fight slime monsters. They can also go fishing or focus on rebuilding the town. Every NPC that lives in the town feels like they have their own life going on with their own hobbies and problems. The game's great to explore and cozy up to.

2 2/10 Spiritfarer

Gwen and Stella hugging, Spiritfarer.

Spiritfarer is beautiful in what it presents as a game. It manages to deal with the very touchy subject matter of death in a way that's hopeful and good-spirited.

The gameplay is very calming and interestingly intertwined with the story. Players must travel around on a boat in order to allow the spirits to complete certain tasks. This will allow them to be ready to travel into the afterlife. In this process, the main character collects different resources and puts them to work as in any other life simulation game. Players have to first form relationships with spirits. After forming those relationships, the player is able to move on to complete another quest.

1 1/10 Minecraft

Minecraft Steve walking with a dog.

Minecraft has to be the most relaxing game available. What makes this game so relaxing is the combination of building and its magnificent score. Any player can hum along to their favorite song that appeared when they were playing the base Minecraft game and building a house. Everything about this game fits well together.

The combination of the simplistic blocky art style with the minimalism in the sound design of monsters creates a coziness unfound in many other games. Collecting materials and any other menial chore players have to do feels well designed and intentional. In the end, the game manages to create a memorable relaxing experience that players love coming back to.
