Garnet has a meditative pose whenever she loses a match in MultiVersus. Though her energy gives off a calm aura, she's anything but that on the battlefield. Garnet is one of the hardest-hitting characters that players can choose from in the game. A lot of her moves can be devastating and her map control can be a menace to players who have never had to play against a Garnet.

Learning how to use her is crucial as an untrained player might accidentally use moves that don't have kill potential at the wrong time or not understand how to open with her. This guide serves to fix those problems and answer any other questions players might have.

Moves And What They Do

Garnet Shoots Spark Of Love At Garnet

Here's a list of Garnet's moves as well as information on how they can best be used in battle:

Specials

Stronger Than You (Neutral Special)

  • She's able to sing and make a barrier that stops the overlapping opponent projectiles.
  • Projectiles that are hit with this move are reflected.
  • For allies and Garnet this move grants Rythm--this gives players a speed boost with the first stack, and armor breaks to melee attacks with the second stack.
  • The second stack is great against other bruisers.

Rocket Fist! (Side Ground Special)

  • Garnet shoots her gauntlets as a projectile
  • These can be moved while shot out and flying.
  • If this move is on its cooldown she'll do a shoulder charge.
  • The shoulder charge does great knockback and will be a main kill move.
  • Her air is the same but her gauntlets don't travel as far.
  • This is a great interrupt for enemies with attacks that charge toward her.

Spark Of Love (Up Ground Special)

  • She charges and aims an electrical bolt.
  • Wherever the bolt lands is where a zone will appear that applies Electrified to allies.
  • When the zone expires it will give teammates a version of Electifified that increases melee damage.
  • For enemies the zone will apply Shocked--Shocked does damage to enemies over time and makes it so that if an enemy hit their ally their ally will take damage.
  • When the zone expires it will knock back enemies on top of it.
  • On this attack's cooldown, Garnet will clap over her head.
  • The clap will be one of Garnet's main kill moves so players want to make sure that they use the projectile whenever she has it available.

Flying Crossarm (Up Air Special)

  • A small combo that hits as Garnet shoots upward and then hits again with knockback in an upward angle.
  • If an enemy is high above Garnet this can kill early.
  • This move has spam potential for high-health opponents whenever they're above Garnet.

Gem Dash (Down Special)

  • Garnet puts down a marker that she can quickly dash to.
  • If an enemy is in the way of Garnet she will grab them and throw them on arrival.
  • If in a team battle her gem will latch on to her teammate which she can then dash to it and refreshes all of their air options, knockback, and hitstun.
  • Players need to keep in mind that this move has a cooldown.
  • This move is great for recovery and map control so players will want to keep it on the edge of the stage.

Attacks

Gauntlet Strike (Neutral Ground Attack)

  • Garnet can charge a punch forward.
  • The longer the charge the further she travels.
  • Keep in mind that the charge doesn't do extra damage, but will knock back an enemy farther back.
  • Charging the attack can kill at high percentages.

Starburst (Neutral Air Attack)

  • The player will be able to charge and shoot her limbs in a star shape.
  • This move does damage all around her.
  • Garnet players will be used as a primary ledge guard.

Crystal Combo (Side Attack)

  • Garnet throws out a combo of punches.
  • She can aim up for a quick uppercut.
  • Garnet can also hit this downward for a spinning multi-punch.
  • She can also aim this forward for a slow Armored--Armor lets characters do an attack without getting hit out of it unless the opponent uses an Armor Breaking attack--slam.
  • Her slow Armored attack is useful for ledge guarding and can kill an opponent early.

Flying Combo (Side Air Attack)

  • Garnet will throw out a combo of forward punches.
  • This is a really good opening move that can be used to combo other moves.
  • This will also be one of Garnet's opening moves.

Double Jab (Up Ground Attack)

  • Players will be able to charge two upward jabs.
  • If she fully charges it she will deliver an extra two-handed jab and jump into the air with it.
  • Fully charging it won't do more damage but has higher knockback.
  • This move does really heavy damage and if fully charged can kill an opponent early on.

Jumping Jabber (Up Air Attack)

  • She will do two fast punches upward.
  • This move will be useful for enemies who like to play in the air as it's extremely quick.

Shocking Slam (Down Ground Attack)

  • Players can charge a shockwave projectile that travels across the ground in both directions and applies Shocked--opponent will build damage over time and hurt allies they run into--to enemies.
  • If this movie is fully charged it will cover all of the stage's floor.
  • This move does high damage and can kill opponents.

Meteor Punch (Down Air Attack)

  • Garnet will charge a meteor punch that launches her downward.
  • This move can be charged and will knock enemies upward if she lands it.
  • This move also applies Shocked to enemies.
  • It is one of the best moves in her kit as she can be moved while using it.
  • This has good kill potential on enemies at high health.

Tips

Garne Using Her Flying Crossarm

These extra tips will help players take what they just learned and gain a better understanding:

  • Garnet is a bruiser and because of this, she moves a little slower than other characters.
  • Players need to make sure they practice finding openings and the charge of their attacks.
  • Garnet has great map control with her projectiles and her gem, so players want to take advantage of this to keep the pressure heavy on their opponents.
  • Players need to remember that even though Garnet has combos this shouldn't be their main focus when enemies are at high health as a lot of the time her basic attack and specials can land her big kills.
  • With all of that said combos will be great when opponents are at lower health to rake in some damage.
  • By opening with her projectiles and then going into one of her quicker attacks that then combos Garnet can get players up to 50 damage or above quickly.
