When is My Hero Academia World Heroes’ Mission happening in the timeline?

Note that this isn’t particularly spoilers as you can see it in the trailers and official summary. But the movie’s antagonists are a group of Villains acting through bio terrorism. And the same terrorist group is actually mentioned in Season 5 of the TV anime, in Episode 16.

In other words, the World Heroes’ Mission movie is taking place at some point after My Hero Academia Season 5 Episode 16.

Moreover, it’s important to note that just like all the past MHA movies so far, World Heroes’ Mission is not adapted from manga chapters.

Is World Heroes’ Mission canon?

While original author Horikoshi Kouhei supervised the story, it’s all specifically written for the movie. And this means the plot of the movie has no long-lasting repercussion, to avoid any contradictions with the ongoing manga.

In other words, the movie is actually canon, but won’t have incidence in the future of the story in the anime or the manga.

My Hero Academia World Heroes’ Mission is launching in theaters on October 29. The movie is releasing in the US only two months after its Japanese theaters release on August 6. This is a pretty short time frame, showing how huge of a franchise the series became.
