The third dimension can be terrifying, but Namco Bandai is throwing caution to the wind and diving right in, promising a strong lineup for 2011 on Nintendo’s upcoming 3DS. Here’s two of their most recent announcements:
Naturally, they’ll be trotting out some new takes on some of the stronger workhorses in the Namco stable with Pac-Man & Galaga Dimensions, a two-for-one cartridge that includes a tilt-focused version of Pac-Man called (predictably) PAC-MAN Tilt, a platformer where you can use the 3DS’s accelerometer technology to rotate the world around you. Galaga 3D Impact is the second game, and it looks like you’ll be swinging your little handheld around in real life to aim at your alien assailants. Sounds… tiring? We’ll have to wait and see, as all we have right now are these descriptions.
We’ll also be getting Namco’s rather odd take on the brain-training genre with DualPenSports, which, as its name suggests, actually tasks the player with using two styluses (styli?) simultaneously. Seriously. It offers 7 different sports mini-games like Soccer and Boxing, as well as training modes aimed at increasing your coordination skills. Just don’t expect to be able to play this one without a table of some kind, because you’ll have a lot of trouble operating a stylus in both hands otherwise. Good luck with that one.
